Grand Seiko introduces the SBGH349, a high-beat mechanical watch inspired by the ethereal beauty of an icefall. Building on the distinctive dial design first seen in the SBGH347, the SBGH349 captures the mesmerizing frozen cascades of Mount Iwate with a texture and icy-blue hue that evoke ice solidifying mid-flow. While the SBGH347 features a compact 37mm case, the SBGH349 expands this breathtaking motif onto a larger 40mm high-intensity titanium case, offering a more prominent display of nature’s frozen grandeur and highlighting Grand Seiko’s deep connection to Japan’s natural landscape.
High-intensity titanium is 30% lighter than stainless steel yet exceptionally resistant to scratches, rust, and corrosion. The case of SBGH349 maintains a refined profile with a thickness of 13mm and a case length of 46.6mm, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist. The matching titanium bracelet with a three-fold clasp adds to its lightweight feel, while the dual-curved sapphire crystal enhances legibility and durability.
Powering the SBGH349 is the Hi-Beat Caliber 9S85, operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. Known for its exceptional precision, this high-frequency movement maintains an accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day and offers a power reserve of approximately 55 hours. The sapphire crystal case back provides a view of the intricate mechanics at work – an homage to Grand Seiko’s pursuit of technical excellence.
With a water resistance of 100 meters and magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m, the SBGH349 balances beauty with performance.
Available at Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners in January 2025 for $7,400, this release continues Grand Seiko’s tradition of fusing nature, artistry, and horological mastery into every creation.
