Crafted at the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi in northern Japan, the SLGH027 pays tribute to the breathtaking mountainscape that has long inspired Grand Seiko’s renowned artisans.
A defining symbol of Grand Seiko’s mechanical watchmaking legacy, Mt. Iwate serves as the muse for this creation, blending cutting-edge technology with time-honored craftsmanship. At its heart is a textured light-blue dial, a refined interpretation of the Mt. Iwate pattern first introduced in 2006. This novel rendition evokes the view of Mt. Iwate from above, with its light-blue hue reflecting the clarity of the air and water surrounding the peak.
Both the case and bracelet are crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, a stainless-steel alloy with superior corrosion resistance compared to steel commonly used in luxury watchmaking. This advanced alloy enhances the hairline-finished components, allowing them to shine brighter and whiter, perfectly complementing the light-blue dial. Ever-Brilliant Steel ensures the watch is as durable as it is beautiful, making it an ideal companion for years to come.
Designed in the Evolution 9 Style, the SLGH027 advances Grand Seiko’s ideals of beauty, legibility, and comfort. The case features a refined combination of Zaratsu polishing – creating a distortion-free mirror finish – and delicate hairline finishes for a soft glow. Measuring 40.0mm in diameter and 11.7mm in thickness, the watch has a low center of gravity and is paired with a perfectly proportioned bracelet to provide a secure, comfortable fit. The case is water-resistant to 10 bar and offers magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m. It features a box-shaped sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, a see-through screw case back, and a three-fold clasp accented with rose gold accents.
At its core is the exceptional Caliber 9SA5, a high-beat movement operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour with an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Its Dual Impulse Escapement and twin-barrel design enhance efficiency, while the movement’s finishing echoes the rippling waves of the nearby Shizukuishi River, merging technical excellence with artistic flair.
